With 2013 just beginning, I decided to pick some of my favorite pictures I’ve taken this past year. I’m still just an amateur, but when I first started out, I remember only liking maybe 5/100 pictures that I would take. That ratio has gotten a lot better as my “photographic sense” has improved little by little, but I definitely have a new found respect for older photographers. They didn’t have the luxury of filling up their 16 GB memory cards and deleting the ones they didn’t like afterwards. They couldn’t even look on their camera’s screen to preview the picture they had just taken. I’m glad we have this advantage nowadays, and I plan on using this to keep practicing as much as I can. I’ve also learned that if you get that one photograph out of 100,000 that is absolutely breathtaking, then it makes it all worthwhile.
